This chapter of my life begins in April of 2001. I was working as an HVAC tech in Nashville, TN. We had just signed the
papers to purchase our first home the month before, when I started experiencing double vision. Anita finally convinced me
to go see our family doctor. He sent me to the local hospital for a CAT scan, and I went home with a diagnosis of "two brain
aneurysms". After some discussion with Anita, we decided to go to St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville for a second opinion. It's
a very unsettling feeling to know something is going on in your brain and not knowing what, or if you should even be functioning
at that point. And thus, my odyssey begins.

After a weekend of being poked and prodded by doctors, nurses and technicians, I was told I did not have a brain aneurysm,
but there was definitely something going on. The doctor suspected Multiple Sclerosis, so I was discharged, with a follow up
appointment for more specific testing for the neurological disease. Ultimately, it was my diagnosis, and treatment with Betaseron
and Avonex began.
I spent the next couple of years searching for answers, not finding them, until eventually, I was unable to continue
working. I began the tedious process of applying for social security disability insurance, and enacted my private disability
insurance payments. Anita has compiled many of the posts she was able to locate from message boards describing my ordeal and
put in a blog, and she will start posting updates to.
